Paw Print Mission

Fox Valley Animal Welfare League The Fox Valley Animal Welfare League, Inc. is a non-profit organization committed to caring for and promoting the adoption of lost, unwanted and abused companion animals.

We advocate for the compassionate and humane treatment of these animals by implementing programs promoting the reduction of pet overpopulation and responsibility among pet owners and children in the community.

We adhere to the highest ethical standards and are dedicated to creating a community environment that eliminates the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals.

Paw Print History

The Fox Valley Animal Welfare League was established and has been serving communities in the Fox Valley area since 1946. It is a non-profit organization dedicated toward ensuring animal welfare, preventing cruelty to animals and educating the public about humane treatment of animals.

The League is comprised of a Board of Directors, dedicated officers, and an overall membership totalling over six hundred people who are interested in the welfare and humane treatment of animals. Our members are concerned enough to support League efforts through annual dues and participation in fundraising activities.

Some of the current activities and services of the League are:

  • Providing cerificates for spay/neuter surgery for all animals adopted from the Aurora Animal Control and Care Facility
  • Providing twice weekly vet visits (by Dr. Judy McBeth-Johnson of the Fox Ridge Vet Clinic) for the animals
  • Organizing volunteers to help socialize, bathe and walk dogs, socialize cats and assist in cleaning cages
  • Managing and operating programs such as "Puppy Love" where dogs visit nursing home residents and brighten their days
  • Providing "Pet of the Week" features weekly courtesy of the Beacon News local newspaper
  • Making follow up calls to recent adopters to ensure the pets have adapted successfully to their new homes and have been spayed or neutered
  • Providing humane educational programs to local schools
  • Publishing a quarterly newsletter distributed to League members.
