Rocky is a 9 year old male, pure-bred, red merle Australian Shepherd. His tail is docked. He comes with papers and is up to date on shots. He has lived in the woods, on a farm, and in a house in the suburbs. He is very well-behaved, with no house-training problems. He does occassionally howl and true to the breed, is protective of his home and family. He LOVES playing fetch.
Things you should know about Rocky:
1. He has discoid lupus. This is a milder form of lupus that only affects his nose, which can get a bit raw. I have been told by the previous owner that every year or two if it flares up more severely he goes on a round of steroids. But the lupus doesn't seem to affect him any other way. (Lupus is more common in shepherds.)
2. He has bitten a person. It was a very specific context and if I was concerned about anyone's safety I would say so. The owners were arguing and one started throwing things at the other and he bit the owner doing the throwing on the ankle. I have known Rocky his whole life and he was only protecting the other owner.
Aussies are very loyal to individuals. Since he has been at my house he has not so much as bared his teeth, not even at the cats. When the environment gets chaotic and noisy (I have two boy children) I will put him up to be on the safe side, but I feel very comfortable with him mingling with the family.
He is truly a great Aussie and I would love to see him with a family that will regularly get him outside working and playing. If you like Aussies you will like this dog!
I would like to ask for adoption fee of $75 which I will donate to FVAWL.
