"At its most basic level, humane education is about learning to care for the animals in our homes and communities. It is about fostering kindness, respect and empathy for both human and nonhuman animals, and looking after the environment and its diverse habitats. Unlike science and other academic disciplines, humane education has a philosophical component that strives to establish a sense of responsibility and make the world a better, more humane place."ASPCA
Pet education and training is essential if you are to gain the maximum benefits of your relationship with your new pet. As with any new member of a family coming into the home, they have to learn and adapt quickly to fit into their new environment. Most potential (and real) problems can be overcome with training, but this requires persistence and consistency! You also need to know how to go about this training. The Fox Valley Animal Welfare League has an Adopt a Teacher program to help with training.
We've taught thousands of caring people to be good friends, companions and caretakers to the pets they've adopted through the Fox Valley Animal Welfare League.
